Nick Rodrigues
Determined. Courageous. Exuberant. Just a few words to describe Nick Rodrigues’ character. Dating back to his childhood years and Guyanese upbringing, music has always been a key element in Nick’s life. His broad, diverse knowledge and passion for music does not go unnoticed.
In 2014 Nick and longtime friend JJ Salcedo launched their DJ duo “Minutia”. The boys had some small success during their run, earning the opportunity to play at some of the NYC’s most notable venues such as Output, Pacha NYC, Cielo, Verboten, Flash Factory, and held a bi-monthly residency at TBA Brooklyn. In 2015, they made their debut at NYC’s largest dance music festival, Electric Zoo Festival, and even made a repeat appearance in 2016, as well as playing HYTE NYC in July of 2016 finding themselves on the same bill as top-tier artists like Danny Tengalia, Loco Dice, Apollonia, Enzo Siragusa, and more. During their run, the boys also we’re grateful to share the decks with the likes of Art Department, Stacey Pullen, Sasha Carassi, Ryan Crosson, and more. In the studio, their most notable release came on Moan Recordings as a part of their “5 Years of Moan” VA Compilation. In late 2016 the boys decided it was time to start embarking on their solo journeys, so the duo went their separate ways. To this day they remain friends and have recently played a “reunion gig” together.
During Nick’s solo career, he has been fortunate enough to showcase his sound in various cities such as NYC, Miami, Orlando, Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, & Connecticut, sharing booths with some of his biggest inspirations such as The Martinez Brothers, Enzo Siragusa, Kerri Chandler, Molly, Kenny Glasgow, Shaun Reeves, & more. There aren’t many places in the city Nick hasn’t left his mark on already, finding himself billed in popular rooms such as Output, 1Oak NYC, Schimanksi, Good Room, Quantum (Formerly Analog), and many more. Nick has also caught the attention of some large-scale events and promoters such as the legendary “Teksupport” & “Bang On! NYC”.
2017 marked the birth of Nick’s most recent project, “Sonder”. An artist collective of close friends, an event series, and podcast on Soundcloud. In the last few years, Sonder has brought their fair share of quality artists to Brooklyn and beyond such as, Julian Perez, Seb Zito, Fabe, iO (Mullen), Kozo, Giammarco Orsini, Paolo Rocco, as well as the New York debut of Nils Weimann, and the USA debuts of Ferro and 2Vilas.
